Schools out for summer!

The kiddos have finished school for the summer! What a whirlwind of a year it has been. Plenty of ups and downs for all of them. Rubi is about to finish her first year of her Engineering apprenticeship, she’s faced some real hardships throughout but has persevered and got to the finish line.

Ellia was FINALLY given her options and secured all that she had chosen. We decided on two fun two practical. So, in year 10 she will be taking: Psychology, Sports Studies, Business Studies and History. She’s going to have an amazing two years!

Layton finished the year with a trip to A&E! He fell down the stairs two days before the end of school, and we thought he had broken his leg. Fortunately, he just bruised the muscle after a lengthy (6 hours in A&E) wait, x-ray and consult we were sent on our way with a bandage and crutches. He had a small risk assessment at school and was allowed to attend for the last day. He was perfectly fine by Saturday!

They’ve only got 4 weeks of fun and games because……

WE ONLY HAVE ONE MONTH UNTIL ORLANDO!

How is this even possible?!? 31 days until the trip of a lifetime! I literally cannot wait! The anticipation is eating me alive! 30 days until pre travel day! Only 22 more work get ups!!

We have so much to look forward to. Slowly over the last 12 months, we’ve added more and more stuff to our cases, and I think we are now finally packed. Apart from the last few bits.

We have been trying to figure out whether we are better off taking things with us or buying stuff out there. We’ve also been trying to figure out a packing list for future use.

We’ve had so much fun figuring out our outfits and what’s going to keep us cool in the Florida heat! As well as what we are going to wear to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party….

Trix is going to stay at my Parents house for two weeks where I know she will be spoilt rotten!

We are travelling down the day before and staying at a hotel for the night, closer to Gatwick. We have booked the Travelodge Gatwick Central and got breakfast too! This is going to add so much excitement to our trip as it means we are leaving a day earlier.

Travel day outfits are packed into our little cabin case!

Airport parking is all booked! We are using the Long Stay Car park at the South Terminal.

Originally, we were getting a lift down and then a transfer from the hotel to the terminal, but with Rubi getting a car for her birthday, we are now able to drive down instead. This is going to add so much excitement to our trip as we will get to do early drop off for our cases, go to a restaurant the night before and have a good night’s sleep before we jet off!

The next 31 days are going to drag! The anticipation of our first long haul flight is slowly creeping in as well! Me and the kids have never flown long haul and I’m not too sure how we will cope. We have plenty to do while on board, but will it be nearly 10 hours’ worth?

I plan on watching a tv series (Yellowstone) and read a book. We also have some colouring and wordsearch books. We have snack trays too as we’re a family of snackers. I’ve told the kids to bring their iPads to keep them entertained, I think Layton is taking his switch with FC25 on it. We’ve bought facemasks and travel pillows. I’m taking an eye mask as I plan to sleep a little.

Me and Rubi have both said we are now bored with waiting! We both know a few people who are currently there and it’s making our wait even more unbearable.

Just 30 more days! That’s two lots of 15 days or 3 lots of 10 days or 6 lots of 5 days!

Hopefully the days go quick!
