Rubi received her GCSE results recently. After the struggles she had with her exams and not receiving the help she needed, she managed to walk away with results better than she anticipated (she thought she had failed all of them).
She opted to open them at home with me and Troy rather than at the school. She was so happy with what she achieved and celebrated with lunch out.
We have been trying to secure her an apprenticeship first in sports and when that didn’t work out, she opted for engineering.
She has attended a few interviews for various engineering roles and went to HoW college to sign up for the level 2 engineering course, which helps find employment alongside the course. Rubi also signed up for an engineering only college called MGTS.
While she was at the induction to the HoW college course she received a phone call from a local company about there apprenticeship.
She interviewed the following week and came out of the interview really happy as it had gone really well. They talked about the company and what work they did and then talked a bit about Lego.
She was told she would receive a call on the Thursday with their decision but felt optimistic.
She called me, in tears, on Wednesday to let me know she had been offered the job.
Super proud of our girl! She went and absolutely smashed her interview, so much so that her manager to be said he was so impressed with how she conducted herself during her interview.
So that’s it! Rubi is going to be an engineer! She has college for the foreseeable future where she will eventually be able to which career path she goes down.
Well done Rubi
