As two go off one returns home!

My kids are lucky enough that they have friends and family invite them on holiday. Rubi spent a week with her best friend and her family in Beer, Devon. She had the best time and came back with loads of stories about what they had got up to. They went to see the otters and she got a cute little teddy to commemorate the occasion. They met a cute doggo at the RNLI shop. Saw a super yacht worth £48m and generally had an amazing time. She had the news that her old football coach had had her baby, and she is adorable. She got back on Saturday.

Ellia and Layton jetted (well small propeller planed) off to Isle of Man with Nanny for 6 days. This trip was special to the kids as their Grandad Dave sadly passed away in 2015 unexpectedly. As he was a Marshall at the TT racing it seemed fitting that he has a resting place here and has wonderful bench that they can go and visit. Rubi unfortunately, missed out due to getting back on the Saturday. Grandad was one of our favourite people, he was kind and caring and loved all three kids so much! We miss him every day.

Packing their cases on Thursday evening and we had a very anxious Layton asking millions of questions ‘what if I don’t like the plane’ ‘what if I don’t like where we are staying’ ‘ what if I lose something’ ‘what if I forget something’ we had to use the Grounding technique(5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear 2 things you can smell 1 thing you can taste) to calm him enough to go to sleep. His last worry before finally settling down was ‘what if they lose my case at the airport’ Troy responded with ‘Mate, you don’t have to worry about that. It doesn’t happen very often’ he finally fell asleep.

Troy took Ellia, Layton and Nanny to Birmingham airport for their flight. They had a nice surprise of their Auntie, Uncle and Cousin joining them when they got to the airport.  They got stopped at security as Ellia had taken a plaque over to place at Grandads Memorial Bench and they wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything illegal. They finally boarded the plane and within the hour, landed in IOM. Collecting their checked cases, they’re all stood waiting patiently. Got Layton’s. got Nanny’s… hmmmm… where is Ellia’s case? That’s right you’ve guessed it.. it didn’t arrive. Troy was distraught… laughing, but distraught as he told Layton this didn’t happen very often… I mean at least it wasn’t Layton’s case! Nanny spoke to the agents at the airport who assured her, they would find out where it was. To compensate she got £25 per day it was missing and if it was lost, she would get £1000. Ellia didn’t mind this she said, ‘I mean I would like my stuff back because its mine, but £1000 can buy a lot of Nike’ Typical! They were assured they would get a call if they had found it, and it arrived safely on Sunday. Although Nanny did have to go and buy her some new clothes. What makes it funnier is when we went to Cornwall in May, Ellia forgot to pack underwear, so Nanny made a joke about not forgetting it this time. I had asked both if they wanted to pack a spare set of clothes in their hand luggage and both said no… I think lesson learned here… always listen to Mom and pack some in you hand luggage!

They are having the best time. They have 2 beaches to go to, a lido and swimming pool with loads of flumes and slides. They were going to have fish & chips on Grandads bench. There are steam trains, horse drawn trams, castles and shops! I can’t wait for them to come home and tell me all about it!
